Hello Phil,

As you know, I use the Moodle Announcement Forum extensively to inform all students of important deadlines. From the midterm exam, November 7th, I sent all students 4 announcements which included warnings about LCC's schedule change deadline. (I can provide you with the text of those announcements, if you wish.) I would like to think that I went above and beyond the level that any instructor is asked to go to help students make proper academic decisions regarding schedule changes.

Below you will see the entire Moodle message transcript of my communications with this student. You will see that FIRST she contacted me midway through the 9th week of the term. Friday, November 20th was the drop date.

Based on the claims made in her email to you:
You can clearly see that her first claim that I sent "no response" is FALSE.
AND
She has NOT attempted to contact me after the "Holidays", another FALSE claim.

You will also see that she contacted me two times after my initial response, asking me to give an NC grade which she is not entitled to.

FROM COPPS (which you already know)
NC (No Credit): Issuing a grade of "NC" is at the instructor's discretion and is used when the instructor believes the student has not participated enough in the class to earn a grade. It is not meant and should not be used to replace an "F" or "Incomplete".

She completed the midterm exam in the 6th week of the term. Her poor performance resulted in a grade of approximately 34% F, up to that point in the term. As far as I'm concerned, I had PLENTY of data/scores/participation to assign her a grade.

Her counselors are advising her to "game" the system, play upon an instructor's emotions, and ask for an NC grade that she is simply not entitled to. This is fraud.
I
Let me know if you need anything else from me.

Joe

Hello there,
I'm not very sure what happened but I dropped this class the day after I took the midterm because I got such a low score on it and I just checked my moodle for the first time since and I'm still registered, is there anyway you can disenroll me since it's not working from my end?

I can't drop you from either Moodle or officially from MyLane. The deadline for all schedule changes was last week.

Hello again!
Well after trying to figure out what happened when I tried to drop the class with enrollment services, all they could tell me is my drop request didn't go through, most likely a system error. There isn't much they can do for me. They did mention that I am able to request for a N/C from you. Is there anyway you could do that for me? I know I am asking a lot but this term has been a little stressful/eye opening. It hasn't gone at all the way I planned. I am not meaning to make excuses or sound pitiful or anything of the sorts, and I know this is asking a lot but it would be really appreciated. I wanted to do better in this class and after the getting such a poor grade on the midterm I got pretty discouraged and realized I wasn't going to get the great I needed/wanted which is why I made the decision to drop it. My time got very restricted and I had to get another job in order to pay for some unforeseen bills/expenses.

It would be very appreciated if you could switch me to an N/C and I would be very thankful.

Please let me know and happy Monday.

Hello again!

I never heard anything back about the NC and I just wanted to follow through!
